汤圆 or 汤团 or 元宵 Another Kind of Chinese Rice Dumpling

Another kind of typical Chinese rice dumpling, 汤圆 tang1 yuan2 or 汤团 tang1 tuan2 or 元宵 yuan2 xiao1, in Chinese it's called differently but the same meaning. It's also using sweet sticky rice or glutinous rice, but as wrap this time, and sugar as major filling. Most often people use sesame powder or black or red bean paste or peanut paste or many others as stuffing combined with sugar. Some even use salty meats as filling which is normally not often but very tasty too. 汤圆 is also a traditional southern food, and it's typically eaten during the 元宵节 Jie2, the Lantern/Rice Ball Festival, which falls on the 15th of January of the Chinese Lunar year, just 15 days after the Chinese Spring Festival. It's coming soon !
