优越的代价就是死亡 The Price of Superior is Death

由于宇宙计划中一种奇异的倒错，生物学上优秀的反而早死。物种不是因为它们的缺陷而是它们的成就而毁灭。沉睡在过去的墓园里的一群，在生前并不是最简单、最不出色的，而是最复杂、最卓越的。泥盆纪时代极壮观的鲨鱼已与时俱逝，而与它们同时的一些原始贝类却仍在地球上。同样地，中生代的蜥蜴远比恐龙长命，而后者在生物学上远较前者为优。诸如此类的例子多得不胜枚举。优越的代价就是死亡。

Because in the universe plan one kind of strange perverting, in biology the outstanding instead dies early. The species are not because of their flaws, but their achievements to be destroyed.　The group slept deeply in the past memorial park, was not the simplest and most non-splendid, rather the most complex and most remarkable when they were alive. The Devonian period the extremely magnificent shark already all passed with the time, but some primitive shellfishes in the same time are actually still on the Earth.　Similarly, the Mesozoic Era's lizard lived far longer compared to dinosaur's longevity, but the latter in the biology is far superior comparing to the former.　The examples like this are much more. The price of superior is death.

* This little Chinese essay was the translation from a TOEFL textbook I used while preparing the English test long long time ago. Later I used it as a quote in my essay. Then later I carried my essay to the US. Now since I am unable to find that original and cherished little book, I'll have to use my memory aided by dictionary to translate it back into English. Today I found it even more meaningful since I'm growing by time and gaining more experience by traveling and reviewing this world by my own eyes.
