赵丹 Zhao Dan, Chinese Cary Grant and Clark Gable

赵丹 Zhao4 Dan1 (6/27/1915 - 10/10/1980), born in 江苏扬州 Jiang1 Su1, but a native of 山东肥城 Shan1 Dong1, is one of the most well-known, the most brilliant and the hottest actors & movie stars & directors in China of last century. He's absolutely the most versatile of artists and the most productive actor in his time. He's the king of the Chinese silver screen in 20th century, and has fame like Hollywood's Cary Grant and Clark Gable.

In 1931, 赵丹 entered the Shanghai fine arts school studying traditional Chinese painting. Soon he devoted his love and enthusiasm to drama and stage performance, and later on the silver screen. His performance was rich in great passion, and was good at portraying the character's psychology. His published works include "Molding the Silver Screen Image", "Gate of the Hell", as well as "Zhao Dan's Calligraphy and Painting Collections" and so on.
